In this latest update, we look at a recent concrete floor preparation project, undertaken at RNAS Yeovilton in Somerset.
This is one of the Navy's two principal air bases, and one of the busiest military airfields in the UK. It is home to more than 100 aircraft operated on both front-line squadrons and training units, including the Fleet Air Arm Wildcat Force and the Commando Helicopter Force, plus vintage aircraft of the RN Historic Flight. In total the site is around 1400 acres.
Our work took place in one of the aircraft hangers, now being used for maintenance.
The brief was the job was to remove the old coating from the concrete floor. We chose to do this using diamond grinding equipment.
Once the old coating was removed, the concrete was ready for a new epoxy coating, applied by other specialist contractors.
